    The Leica Builder 400 (9-Second) Reflectorless Total Station is a powerful tool that allows you to save time and money by precisely and accurately measuring even the most difficult locations - even if you've never used a total station before. Layout a construction site, collect height and angle data, perform control measurements, complete site preparation and earthworks, or even align concrete forms: the intuitive interface and pre-loaded application functions make it easy to get the job done in record time.

    One-Person Operation

    The Leica Builder Reflectorless Total Station allows you to take measurements up to 50 feet away without placing a prism pole at the end point of the location you need to measure. Not only do you save time and money, since only one person is needed to take measurements, but you'll be able to access locations that were previously too dangerous or inaccessible to reach, such as overhead power lines, bridges, scaffolding, past hostile pets, or across large bodies of water.

    Easy Setup Wizard

    Even novices can get started using the Leica Geosystems Total Station right from the beginning, by following the display of the computerized setup wizard. Graphic icons on the control panel's 6-line LCD display, as well as a 20-key alphanumeric keyboard similar to a cellphone, lead you through every step of the setup process. Follow the wizard to level the builder, define your control line, enter offset values from a plan, and set out or record the points; in just a few minutes your Leica Builder 400 will be set and ready to go.

    Pinpoint Laser Technology for Precise Measurements

    Get measurements with bulls-eye precision using the patented pinpoint laser technology of the Leica Builder. Other total stations use a wide laser beam, which can lead to inaccurate measurements by measuring not only the target point, but also the area surrounding the point you'd like to measure. The Leica optical device's laser, however, features a narrow diameter, allowing you to aim precisely around or through obstacles like fences, utility poles, or tree branches.

    Versatile and Easy to Learn Software

    The Leica Builder Electronic Total Station's powerful software solution, PowerSite, is designed to be easy to use yet serve as a complete solution for all of your measuring needs. PowerSite works together with the Construction Data Manager, a Windows-based application that handles firmware upload, data upload and download, and the installation of up to three out of 24 additional languages on the control panel. Setup with control line or coordinates, for example, follows the same procedure used when setting up with tape, and both also use the preset axis automatically  as the reference line, allowing you to work with line and offset values straight from your original plan. And of course, the easy choice of setup positions enables you to take measurements quickly and efficiently. You can also increase usability even further by adding a Leica handheld data collector. 

    Five Pre-loaded Software Applications for Maximum Usability

    Nine pre-loaded software applications come with your Leica Builder Total Station, allowing you to easily figure out the measurements for nine common measuring functions:

    Layout Function: Check the alignment of columns, formworks, and fencing lines, and ensure against racking in greenhouses or other structures.

    Area and Volume: Ideal for tender preparations of all kind. Check the fit for windows, the volume of asphalt needed for a parking lot, or simply capture aligned surfaces on the spot. Get fast volume determination of stockpile monitoring, cutting to formation, and mass haul cuts and fills, allowing you to keep tabs on your earthworks progress as the day progresses.

    As-Built: Use the as-built function to ensure your blueprints are up to date and reflect the latest changes. With PowerSite, you can instantly transfer and update new data, or record measurements for drafting a completely new blueprint.

    Hidden Point: Obtain measurements for points not directly visible with the hidden point function; PowerSite software reveals the position of the hidden point, total station, and reflector in just a few steps.

    Angle and Distance: Check the height clearance under a bridge, mark ground floor elevations, and transfer reference heights in one work step.

    Tie distance: Used to compute horizontal distance, height difference, and grade between two target points, tie distance is the perfect solution for figuring out whether or not there is a clearance under a roof for that crane, or checking the drainage of a grade.

    Coordinate Geometry Calculations: A graphical display on the control panel shows the position of the station, used new points, directions, distances, and the new calculated point, allowing you to easily figure out this normally complicated measurement.

    Layout Line/Arc/Spiral: Easily plot the lines for a road or spiral staircase; the PowerSite software allows you to stake out and check points relative to a road alignment.

    Enhanced Productivity 

    The Leica 400 Total Station boasts several other features that help you improve your on-site productivity. Leica's endless drives make it easy to rotate the total station a full 360 degrees while staying steady at all times. Once you finish measuring your target, you can store up to 50,000 points in the Leica Builder's internal memory, or add a Leica USB to easily store or transfer data. Or, use the included cable to download data directly to our PC or laptop, or upload a new AutoCAD plan. Protect your Builder Total Station with the Theft Protection Feature, which uses a Personal Identification Number upon start-up. The system locks down after the wrong PIN number is typed in, and can only be re-opened with the Personal Unblocking Code located on the delivery papers for your Leica Total Station.
